Dominique has always loved the quote by Nikos Kazantzakis: "You have your brush, you have your colors, you paint paradise, then in you go." Painting birds is an easy escape from the daily world's problems. She has been drawing and painting since she was a child in northern France. She started painting watercolors after she moved to the US.
Dominique Bachelet was born and raised in northern France. Her maternal great grandfather was a professional artist and some of his paintings are hanging in her home-town museum. Her father drew and painted in his free time, encouraging her to draw animals and people. As a student on a budget Dominique enjoyed drawing and making her own posters to decorate her bedroom. She loves to draw or paint Christmas cards for her friends. Dominique first public show was at the 2005 Olympia Fall Arts walk and she participated to her first Oregon show in 2017 at the Philomath Open Studio.
